Chris was born in Liverpool in 1973 and began playing piano and violin at an early age. When his family moved to Armagh in 1984 his music teacher, Eithne Vallely of the Armagh Pipers Club, encouraged him to take up traditional fiddle. Chris went on to complete the Tonmeister Music and Sound Recording degree at the University of Surrey and spent his industrial year working at Sulan Studios, Co. Cork. There he worked with many renowned Irish musicians including Peadar O’Riada, Christy Moore, Nomos, Arcady, Mary Black, Eleanor Shanley, Matt Cranitch, Noirin Ní Riain and Micheal Ó Súilleabháin.

In 2006 Chris released his debut CD ‘The Shadowed Gateway’ - a collection of his own compositions performed by Liz Doherty, Ivan Goff and Jim Woods. The recording was produced in stereo and 5.1 surround sound formats and released as a Super Audio CD. In 2013 Chris completed work on his second CD release ‘The Crooked Mountain Road’. As with his debut, the new CD features a collection of Chris’ compositions in addition to traditional Irish tunes and more recent compositions from Scandinavia. |
